Tacoma Art Museum

The museum and collection

The Tacoma Art Museum is situated in the state of Washington. The latest exhibitions on extended view is “Metaphor into Form: Art in the Era of the Pilchuck Glass School”. This institution emerged as a world-renowned center for glass art from the 1970's onwards. The TAM's glass collection casts a spotlight on the unique half-century story of the school and also illustrates how the Northwest became a hub for this art form. Showcasing a wide range of forms and techniques, the exhibition reveals how artists responded to the material properties of glass as a metaphor for the human experience and the creative impulse.

The assignment

The TAM opted to use modular showcases so they could easily create new exhibition layouts in the future, and they selected our Infinity. In line with the theme of the exposition, they wanted to make the exhibit as transparent as possible, making use of the abundant daylight and sufficient gallery lighting. This is why they chose the glass tops version. Both single and paired configurations were installed.
