This exhibition reflects the intimate and refined daily life of the 'Enlightenment era', by bringing this exhibition brings together an exceptional collection of unusual and precious objects crafted from sophisticated materials such as gold, mother-of-pearl, and porcelain, enhanced by hard or precious stones. By transporting us through a diverse cultural history spanning art, fashion, techniques, and anthropology, this exhibition aims to recontextualize our view of these luxury objects from the 18th and early 19th centuries.

To offer the most comprehensive presentation of Ernest Cognacq's dazzling collection, institutions such as the Musée du Louvre, Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, Château de Versailles, Palais Galliera, Royal Collections of England, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London have lent pieces for the occasion.
