Where Dinosaurs, Meteorites and Memory Meet the Gulf

Last weekend, the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, the largest museum of its kind in the Middle East, opened to the public in the Saadiyat Cultural District. From its threshold, the museum traces 13.8 billion years of natural history. Headline specimens such as Stan the Tyrannosaurus rex and the Murchison Meteorite star in a narrative that stretches from distant galaxies to the landscapes of Abu Dhabi itself.

For this new museum, Meyvaert designed, produced, and installed 128 custom showcases throughout the galleries, many of them rising through floors and ceilings so they blend with the architecture and exhibition design. We’re one of the many teams behind this new museum for natural history in the region. The project was realised in close collaboration with Alec Fit-Out and the wider design and construction team.

We’ll share a dedicated project reference with more insights and visuals in the near future, and warmly invite you to discover the museum on Saadiyat Island.
